NAU MAI
NAU MAI ki te whare-retireti o Hine-i-Tūrama. Welcome to Tūrama Retreat. Whether on a business, academic, art, political or recreation, family holiday or thrill seeking excursion, Turama will shelter you. This landscape-informed, architecturally-designed homes is located minutes from Rotorua's major attractions and city centre yet secluded enough to offer an escape.
"Tūrama” (first ray of light at dawn) is the name given to the Tapsell Homestead, replacing the original 1953 dwelling built by Quentin Taiporutu Tapihana for his aged parents Kouma and Enid. Tūrama provides shelter on ancestral lands, which has remained intact under the mana (customary authority) of Ngāti Waoku (descendants of Waoku) for 16 generations.
